Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview shows the young girl â who inherited the toy collection when he grew up â getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
